ARCHITECTURAL
DESIGN
Architectural design is a concept that focuses on components or elements of a structure. An architect is generally the one in charge of the architectural design. We work with space and elements to create a coherent and functional structure.
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
DESIGN
Structural design is the methodical investigation of the stability, strength and rigidity of structures. The basic objective in structural analysis and design is to produce a structure capable of resisting all applied loads without failure during its intended life.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
DESIGN
Water Resource Engineering is a specific kind of civil engineering that involves the design of new systems and equipment that help manage human water resources. Underground drainage is the general term given to the system of pipes and fittings that is installed below ground level to transport foul drainage or rainwater flows to a sewage treatment facility or, in the case of rainwater, a soakaway or water course.
STRUCTURAL
APPRAISALS
A Structural Appraisal records and describes the visible physical condition of the existing load bearing construction interpreting this information to assess the structural adequacy of the building and its ability to readily adapt to the proposed change of use.
GROUND INVESTIGATION
STUDIES
Ground conditions represent the greatest hazard to any construction project. Building and construction case records show that ground conditions are often the cause of large cost and time overruns. However, a ground investigation tailored to the specific needs of the site can reduce these geotechnical risks.
FEASIBILITY
STUDIES
A feasibility study is an analysis that takes all of a project’s relevant factors into account—including economic, technical, legal, and scheduling considerations—to ascertain the likelihood of completing the project successfully
BASEMENT IMPACT
ASSESSMENTS
A basement impact assessment is an independent professional engineering review of a basement proposal. There are no common standards or fixed requirements for basement impact assessments, although each Council has similar elements which they require to be appropriately addressed.
TEMPORARY WORKS
DESIGN
Temporary works (TW) are the parts of a construction project that are needed to enable the permanent works to be built. Usually the TW are removed after use – eg access scaffolds, props, shoring, excavation support, falsework and formwork, etc.
CONTRACT
ADMINISTRATION
Contract management or contract administration is the management of contracts made with customers, vendors, partners, or employees. The personnel involved in contract administration required to negotiate, support and manage effective contracts are often expensive to train and retain.
PRINCIPAL
DESIGN
A principal designer can be an organisation or individual who is appointed by the client (commercial or domestic) to take the lead in planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating health and safety during the pre-construction phase (design and planning stage) of a project involving, or likely to involve, more than one contractor.
PROJECT
MANAGEMENT
Construction project managers are responsible for collaborating with and providing oversight to the stakeholders in the project, including the owner, the architect, the general contractor, trade contractors and subcontractors.
CONSTRUCTION
MANAGEMENT
Construction management is a professional service that provides a project’s owner(s) with effective management of the project’s schedule, cost, quality, safety, scope, and function. Construction management is compatible with all project delivery methods. A Construction Manager’s responsibility is to the owner and to a successful project.
